Los Penitentes

Right on the Andean range at 2,580 meters above sea level, this ski resort lies against the background of imposing Mt. Aconcagua. Sitting on Santa Maria, Leñas and Cruz de Caña mounts, on the international highway to Chile, this complex is located only 167 km (104 miles) from the city of Mendoza. Its 300 hectares of natural beauty offer 26 runs with superb powder and of varying length and drops, which are suitable for both novices, and seasoned and expert skiers. This center boasts four competition runs certified by the I.S.F. and sectors for free skiing.

There is a wide range of accommodation available, such as hotels, apart-hotels, hosterías (guesthouses) and apartments, and there's a plentiful supply of entertainment options, such as restaurants, bars, pubs and a disco.

SKI SCHOOL

The Escuela de Esquí Los Penitentes has a team of over 30 local and foreign instructors. The Jardín de Nieve offers not only lessons for 3-to 5-year-olds who are taking their first skiing steps but also childcare and babysitting services.

LIFTS

The resort has 7 lifts that can carry 5,800 skiers per hour.

GROOMING AND SNOW-MAKING FACILITIES

The complex uses two cats to keep the pistes in perfect condition and five snow cannons to make artificial snow.
