Rural Tourism - Cuyo Region

Cuyo - which means "Country of Deserts" in the Indians' language - is characterized by vast desert areas stretching from the Andes and the Andean foothills to the barren plains, and extends over La Rioja, San Juan, San Luis and Mendoza.

The eternal snows covering the mountains located to the west, at which bottom lie the plains, nourish numerous streams used by men to create oases and transform the sandy soils, thus improving the quality of the vines. Today the excellent wines from this region enjoy a high reputation worldwide. The commercialization of the grapes and vegetables constitutes one of the advantages of the irrigated land. Among the varied activities at visitors' disposal we can mention: rural duties (milking, agricultural tasks, etc.), sports (fishing, horseback riding, trekking, mountaineering, among others), ecotourism (photographic safaris, wildlife watching, etc.), and cultural activities.

During the horseback riding tours at an altitude over 4,000 meters, visitors can appreciate the majesty and breathtaking beauty of our nature.
