This 10,000-hectare Natural Reserve was founded ín 1968 for the purpose of protecting a section of the western Chaco. It lies in the west of Formosa province, between El Yacaré and La Florencia, in a natural area boasting incredible flower diversity.
Formosa - Parque National Rio Pilcomayo
Created in 1951 to protect grasslands, marshes, valleys, ponds and gallery forests typical of the wet or eastern Chaco, this unit sits on the banks of the Rio Paraguay, in the northeast of Formosa province.
This virtually flat park is peppered with numerous marshes and ponds, and is victim of periodic droughts and floods, which inundate vast areas in summertime.
