This region is characterized by an important hydrographic system, with big rivers like the Iguazú, Uruguay, Bermejo and Parana, which provide a wide variety of animal and vegetal species with the habitat, shelter and nourishment they need. Fishing different and highly appreciated species like dorado, surubi (sorubim), pacú, chafalotes (biara or Rhaphiodon Vulpinus), lisas (mullets), pirá pitas (pirapita or Brycon orbygnianus), tarariras (tahira, or Hoplias malabaricus), and bogas (Leporinus obtusidens), among others, in such a gorgeous environment will make an ever-lasting impression.

The wide variety of natural and contrasting sceneries like the Yungas Jungle, with its exuberant vegetation, or the pastoral tranquility of the mountains, hills and waterways in the Calchaquíes Valleys are ideal fishing spots. The Juramento, Lipeo, Iruya and Bermejo rivers are ideal places for fishing dorado, trout, pintado and surubi (sorubim). Good size tarariras (tahira) and pejeyerres can be caught in the Cabra Corral and El Tunal reservoirs, while trout abound in the mountain streams.
