San Juan

San Juan is the capital of the province of the same name about 700 miles west of Buenos Aires. Most of it is new because the terrible earthquake of 1944 destroyed the existing capital, hence it is marked by wide avenues and more modern buildings than you might expect. The province is bordered by the Chilean border and of course the Andes mountains. The city boasts 200,000 inhabitants.
