Buenos Aires Neighborhoods - Puerto Madero

Puerto Madero (Buenos Aires) |
In the vicinity of the "microcentro" or "the In City", as the Porteños call the financial district, facing the Casa Rosada, on the banks of the river a gigantic urban project has changed the face of this zone.

Puerto Madero (Buenos Aires) |
This neighborhood was created in 1991 with the intention of recuperating the old harbor district that had been abandoned for many years. Streets were opened and old brick warehouses that used to serve as storage space were renovated.
The buildings preserve its exterior appearance and house offices, a cinema complex, the Universidad Católica building (the Catholic University), a five star hotel, a mega-disco, around forty restaurants and ten bars that have made Puerto Madero one of the places most visited by nightlife lovers.

Puente de Calatrava (Buenos Aires) |
You can take a walk down the promenade that follows the canal in front of the buildings, visit the Sarmiento Frigate, an old Argentine Navy schooling ship moored at Dique 3, and enjoy the sight of the striking Calatrava bridge. Another possibility is to try your luck in the Buenos Aires Casino located onboard a riverboat similar to the ones used on the Mississippi river.
