San Luis

The province's tourist industry focuses on the southern area of the Sierras Pampeanas, formed by the mountain ranges known as Comechingones and San Luis.

The centers located in that area constitute the ideal factor for the provincial tourist development. San Luis - its capital city - and Villa Mercedes are the two biggest and most important commercial and industrial cities.

In the proximity of San Luis, Potrero de Los Funes, El Volcán and Cruz de Piedra offer visitors breathtaking landscapes, full of reservoirs and winding waterways among the mountains where tourists can enjoy different water sports and fishing activities.

The tourist circuits also include tours to Trapiche and Embalse La Florida (La Florida dam).

The Valle de Conlara provides access to Merlo, another important area located on the Sierra de Comechingones, which has an ideal microclimate, stunning scenery and first-rate tourist services and hotels.

Chivo a Las brasas con chanfaina (grilled goat with offal), asado con cuero (grilled beef served with the skin), puchero (a slowcooking casserole), locro de maiz y de trigo (maize and wheat stew), mazamorra (maize dessert), charque (Jerked meat), humita en chala (fresh ground corn wrapped in its husks). Chorizos and longanizas (sausages). Goat's cheese. Quirquinchos.
