Ver página em Português | Ver página en Español
Sitting on the majestic Andes and traversed by a chain of hills called Sierras Pampeanas, La Rioja is a combination of prairies, arid plains and towering mountains.
Riojanos, as this province's natives are called, have inherited an impressive mythology, whose myths and legends interlace with their religious beliefs. La Pachamama, their greatest divinity, protects the life of every living creature, but also causes storms, droughts and hurricanes.

World Heritage Sites - Talapaya e Ischigualasto
Both parks are extraordinary paleontological, archaeological and nature reserves, famous worldwide. Talampaya and Ischigualasto, which is located in San Juan province, extend over an area of 5,000 sq.km. and boast an amazing paleontological, archaeological and nature reserve admired all over the world.
Located between the Sanogasta and Colorados mountain ranges, Talampaya park is a territory which offers wide orographic contrasts. This area combines mountains up to 1,300 meters high, vast snow-white deserts, breathtaking reddish stone walls, valleys, canyons and rock formations carved by nature. This particular surface has been progressively shaped by different geologic processes experienced by the earth throughout time, such as eruptions, fractures, slides, climate changes and prolonged erosion.
Ischigualasto, also known as the Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) due to its landscape, is another place of extraordinary archaeological and paleontological value.
