La Pampa

Even though this inland province has neither beaches nor ski resorts, it is characterized by a specialized kind of tourist, keen to learn about the indigenous flora and fauna, in some cases, or to practice sports like big game hunting, in others.

Those interested in the former aspect may like to know that La Pampa is home to the Parque Luro reserve, which is located at less than 40 miles (60 km) from the provincial capital, Santa Rosa, and which boasts a fabulous array of native animal and vegetable species.

As regards specialized tourism, you may take part in one of the big game hunting excursions that are organized for both local and foreign tourists. And besides, there is the possibility to do some "rural tourism" by staying at one of the many wonderful estancias and enjoying spacious accommodations and the regional cuisine.

Regional culinary specialties:
The typical fare is the asado criollo, grilled beef, in the east, and grilled lamb or goat, in the west. Soft and semi-hard cheeses are common too. Boar is also a usual dish, but deer is more of a special treat.
