    Formosa

Sitting on the banks of the Pilcomayo and Bermerjo rivers, which separate it from Paraguay and Chaco province, Formosa evinces unique natural and human characteristics.

Its natural beauties - the vast forests, marshes and palm stretches - scattered among rivers and brooks, create a huge park rich in native flora and fauna.

As regards the human aspect, in this province there live a great number of indigenous peoples, tobas and matacos, grouped in reservations where they maintain their ancestral life styles.

Such attractions foster the growth of adventure tourism which, together with big game hunting and fishing, has turned Formosa into a new tourism center.
    Paraguay River Paraguay River

In the northern region, on the Paraguay river and linked to Asuncion by the San Ignacio de Loyola bridge, lies the city of Clorinda, a heterogeneous melting pot of nationalities and business practices typical of a frontier town.

    Regional culinary specialties:
Asado criollo (barbecue), chipá guazú (cheese soufflé), chipá con carne, sopa paraguaya (cheese and onion cornbread), dulces de mammon, zapallo y guayaba (papaya, pumpkin and guava conserves).
Typical drinks: aloja (algarroba beer), limonada (lemonade), chichi (maize beer), and mosto (sugar-cane juice).
