Córdoba

Córdoba is the second most important tourist attraction in the country for its striking combination of mountain scenery, waterways and reservoirs.

Being located almost in its geographical center, Cordoba city - its capital - makes an ideal base from which travelers may then visit other regions in the mountains.

Besides its colonial and religious buildings, among the city's outstanding tourist attractions we can mention the Manzana y Estancias Jesuíticas (Jesuit Block and Estancias), located in the city of Cordoba and surrounding areas, which have been designated as World Heritage sites by UNESCO.

Santa Catalina, Jesuit Estancia

These attractions are the following: Estancia La Candelaria, Estancia Santa Catalina, Estancia Jesus Maria, Estancia Alta Gracia, Casa de Caroya and Manzana Jesuítica - formed by the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesus (Church of the Company of Jesus) -, the Capilla Doméstica (Domestic Chapel), Colegio Nacional de Monserrat (Monserrat National School) and Casa de Trejo (Trejo's House).

The province is divided into several tourist regions, namely, Capital, Punilla, Paravachasca, Calamuchita, Sierras del Sur, Traslasierra, Noroeste, Norte, Sierras Chicas, Mar Chiquita, Fortines y Lagunas, Rutas de Acceso.

Regional culinary specialties
Typical dishes: Regional jams and arropes (syrups), alfajores (sweet biscuit sandwiches), colaciones (sweet pastries), cabrito (kid), chivito especiado (spicy goat), and wild mushrooms. Wild meat and chicken casseroles, escabeche-marinated viscacha, home made embutidos (sausages and chorizos), and dairy candies.
